With much sadness and a heavy heart, I wanted to share the news of Laurren Smith's passing. Read a little bit about Laurren's journey here!
As I was on the phone with a friend tonight, I read the update from Laurren's father that she had been healed of her pain and had went to be with her Heavenly Father in Heaven. My thoughts and prayers immediately went out to her family and friends and community. My heart aches for them. I can't imagine the loss that they will endure but it is comforting to know that their daughter and friend had such a faith and hope that spread to all who heard her story.
I came across Laurren's story through Facebook by visiting Jana Alayra's Facebook page. I clicked on Pray for Laurren Smith and I was immediately touched by her story and her strong fight with cancer.
I would get updates in my inbox about her condition and current joys and blessings from her father and then I sent a message to her father offering to the family to create Shop In Your PJs for Laurren blog to try to help raise money for the family's expenses. Within minutes of sending the message, I received a telephone call from Laurren's father and he was sincerely touched and told me that it was his heart's desire that as many people as possible be touched by his beautiful daughter.
I quickly created this site and then contacted Kelly Stamp of Kelly's Korner because I thought if anyone in the blogging community could get the word out, she could. I also posted a prayer request on Kelly's Prayer Request Blog.
So yesterday, Friday, December 4, 2009, Laurren's pain and suffering ended and she was healed by going to the arms of Jesus who she faithfully served here on Earth with a positive attitude. She had said that she did not pray to be healed, she prayed for a positive attitude. What a lesson for so many of us to learn.
The video was posted on the Pray for Laurren Smith's Facebook Page by Jordan Goforth. Laurren had 5,184 followers on her facebook page. She has truly touched so many lives! She will never be forgotten and her pain and suffering here on Earth has been a bittersweet blessing here on Earth. So many lives have been touched by her prayer for a positive attitude. To see the love that the community had for Laurren was amazing to watch all of the way from where I am in California to the community of Forney, Texas.
I will never forget the Smith Family. Thank you for allowing me to be blessed by your daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend. She is truly an angel.
